The European Union Ambassador to Uganda Kristian Schmidt in company of the EU Press and Information Officer Political Section Emmanuel Gyezaho paid a visit to FUFA House, Mengo on Wednesday.
The EU will be celebrating 60 years of Integration and the high prolife Diplomat was at FUFA House to share a few ideas about the journey with the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.
The FUFA President couldn’t hide his excitement for the Ambassador’s visit.
‘I thank the European Union for having the confidence in us thus the partnership ahead of celebrating 60 years of integration. Being trusted by such a big institution means we have kept track of our performance’ said Magogo.
Magogo who is fresh from being appointed on the CAF Executive Committee and various committees running football on the continent, applauded the EU for the contribution to Uganda’s infrastructural development which has also helped out football activities.
The FUFA President highlighted the Northern by pass which has eased transport to and from Mandela National Stadium which is the main host stadium of the Uganda Cranes international fixtures.
The EU Ambassador extended gratitude to Eng. Moses Magogo upon his recent appointment as member of the CAF Executive Committee and also congratulated Uganda upon qualifying for AFCON 2017 after 38 years and Uganda emerging as the African National team of the year 2016.
‘I congratulate you for the recent appointment as a Member of the CAF Executive Committee and Uganda qualifying for the AFCON in Gabon a long period of time together with emerging as the National team of the year 2016’ nted Schmidt .
He added that EU believes in development of health, youth and accordingly think football is a good avenue to address such matters.
The Union has organized a Sports Gala is one of the activities to celebrate 60 years of the European Union integration.
‘We have decided to partner with FUFA to help us organize the sports gala especially the 5 aside football tournament’ added Schmidt
The sports gala will be held at Kabira Country club on Saturday 20th May 2017.
The Ambassador addressed the media at a press conference also attended by the FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu.
He was taken on a guided tour of FUFA House and the studios of 102.1 FUFA fm.
