Mr. Lawrence MulindwaMr. Lawrence Mulindwa has been re-elected unopposed as the FUFA president for the term 2009-2013 during the 2009 FUFA elective General Assembly that convened in Arua ( Road distance of 440km from Kampala). 155 out of the 173 expected delegates from various football associations from all over the Uganda turned up for the assembly.

In his words, the Returning Officer, Mr. Patrick Okanya, was jovial and humourous throughout the session but did not fail to recount the various court battles that involved him. “If someone calls you a “muyaye” and you turn to respond, then you could be having some elements of “buyaye”. Even when I was unfairly attacked as a person I kept my head to deliver a job assigned to me by this very General Assembly” said Okanya

Having had only one candidate who successfully underwent the nomination exercise, I hereby declare Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa the FUFA President 2009-2013 and constitutionally, I hereby handover to him” decalred Okanya and ululations followed from the delegates.

The government of Uganda was represented by Mr. Muramagi (National Council of Sports) who emphasized the continued and increased support from government. He called upon the new executive committee to work together for the betterment of football in Uganda

The African Icon in the names of Kalusha Bwalya represented FIFA and he was overwhelmed by the performance of the returning officer who he said he would recommend to FIFA as person worth tapping for a similar job elsewhere. Mr Bwalya who is also the President of the Football Association of Zambia said he has witnessed a democratic exercise where a consolidation of the already obvious football gains Uganda has recently made will we be achieved.

“Uganda belongs to the elite of African football but if the FUFA executive is not supported that shall remain a dream” said Mr. Bwalya

Rule 1: Play to Win

Winning is the object of playing any game. Never set out to lose. If you do not play to win, you are cheating your opponents, deceiving those who are watching, and also fooling yourself. Never give up against stronger opponents but never relent against weaker ones. It is an insult to any opponent to play at less than full strength. Play to win, until the final whistle
