U-20 Women Team Withdraws from World Cup

E-mail Print PDF

Uganda has withdrawn from the U-20 Women 2010 World Cup qualifier due to financial constraints.

After eliminating Rwanda, Uganda was meant to play Zambia on the 5th of December 2009 and a return leg in Lusaka a fortnight later. This would imply that FUFA had to look after the Zambians while here, provide air tickets, accommodation and allowances for five match officials and also provide air tickets and allowances to a contingent of 25 players and officials to Zambia

“It is a hard decision that we cannot avoid as FUFA cannot raise over 80 Million Uganda Shillings to honour both the home and away fixture” said Mr. Edgar Watson the FUFA CEO

Never give up against stronger opponents but never relent against weaker ones. It is an insult to any opponent to play at less than full strength. Play to win, until the final whistle
