The gallant Uganda Cranes players that arrived Thursday Morning from Mwanza on Precision air were treated to a lunch buffet as the tradition FUFA has set on arrival.
Although the team led by Mr. Samuel Mpiima (FUFA Excom Member) looked a little tired, it did not succeed in hiding the jovial moods after completing yet another escapade
The Uganda Cranes beat Tanzania Taifa Stars by 3 against 2 goals and Uganda’s heroes being debutants Sula Matovu (Nalubaale FC) at 15 minutes and Sadam Juma (Bunamwaya SC) with 15 minutes to go. Between the two goals, the hosts had helped themselves with two goals and looked destined to get a golden win against the CECAFA back to back champions. Owen Kasule had other ideas when he scored the winner that silenced over 15,000 specatators and left Tanzanians wondering what it takes to beat Uganda.
The FUFA President, Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa, cautioned the players that discipline and determination will open the way for their future. "You must work hard, behave well, listen to your coaches and parents, and love each other as a team. yet as FUFA we shall make sure we facilitate you and give you as much exposure as possible” said Mr. Mulindwa. He further cautioned the players to always remember that they are the lucky ones with the chance to represent the 30 million Ugandans whenever they are on the pitch and also to work hard while in their clubs as the Uganda Cranes will not summon belligerent and lazy players at their respective clubs
