The Late Dennis Obua The Late Andrew Kasagga aka ZzimweDouble tragedy has befallen the Ugandan football fraternity of the sudden demise of Mr. Andrew Kasagga aka Zzimwe and Mr. Dennis Obua.

The Late Andrew Kasagga has been an inspirational football icon as a long serving vice Chairman of Sports Club Villa, Uganda’s most successful football Club. He was at the thick of the management when SC Villa played back to back CAF Clubs championship finals in 1991 and 1992. He has succumbed to cancer after a long battle that had lately kept him out  of the day to day football activities. Burial arrangements have been confirmed to be at his country home in Seeta-Mukono on Thursday 6th May 2010 at 1400 Hours

The FUFA President, the Executive Committee and the entire football community shares the moment of grief with the family of the late Kasagga and prays that his soul rests in eternal peace

It has been more shocking this morning when FUFA learnt of the sudden death of Mr. Dennis Obua the former FUFA President, former CECAFA Chairman, former and celebrated Uganda Cranes left winger, father to Uganda Cranes and Hearts FC (Scotland) player David Obua and father to URA FC player Eric Obua

The occurrence of the his death is more saddening that he was in the national stadium where he displayed his football skills in his playing days but this time was looking  after fellow ex-international stars in a routine training that he introduced recently but only to collapse and the rush to hospital did not save his life.

Sunday Mayanja aka Moni told FUFA website that he tried his best to rush the failing Dennis but only to arrive to the hospital to confirm his death. Currently, the actual cause of the death is not yet established and burial arrangements are yet to be communicated

“It is a trying moment for the sport of football in Uganda and the people we would have run to for guidance and wisdom are fast disappearing. I played at SC Villa under the guidance of Mr. Kasagga and in the Uganda Cranes under Dennis Obua and I am what I am because of these guys.” Said FUFA CEO Mr. Edgar Watson

“On behalf of FUFA and the entire football community I call upon the Almighty God to keep us strong but most importantly the family stronger through this trying moment” is what Edgar Watson further said

Rule 1: Play to Win

Winning is the object of playing any game. Never set out to lose. If you do not play to win, you are cheating your opponents, deceiving those who are watching, and also fooling yourself. Never give up against stronger opponents but never relent against weaker ones. It is an insult to any opponent to play at less than full strength. Play to win, until the final whistle
