Orange 2016 CHAN finals: Miya confirmed Cranes captain, Sentongo given new leadership role

Uganda CHAN Cranes leaders:

Team Captain: Faruku Miya

Deputy Captains: Joseph Ochaya and Robert Sentongo

International Build-up: Sunday, 10th January 2016 – Uganda Vs Gabon (Closed Door Match)

At FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru

Kick-off: 3 p.m (Live on 102.1 FUFA f.m and Azam T.V)

Match Officials: 

Alex Muhabi (Match Referee), Mark Ssonko (1st Assistant Referee), Okello Lee (2nd Assistant Referee), Dennis Batte (Reserve Referee), Catherine Adipo (Match Commissioner/ Assessor)

Experienced striker, Robert Sentongo is among the three Uganda Cranes team leaders named ahead of the Orange 2016 CHAN championship in Rwanda.

Whereas Faruku Miya is maintained as the team captain, two other players – Joseph Ochaya and Robert Sentongo will be the deputies.

Miya was the team captain in the 2016 CHAN qualifiers against Tanzania and Sudan.

The Vipers Sports Club play maker has also previously captained the Uganda national U-23 side (Kobs) and was the winning captain at the CECAFA 2015 championships in Ethiopia.

‘I am ready to play my role as the team captain. We are one family ready to die a little for the team at the 2016 CHAN finals’ the soft spoken player told www.fufa.co.ug.

Meanwhile, the head coach, Milutin Sredojevic released the three Jinja players – Richard Wandyaka (JMC Hippos), Andrew Basooma (Sadolin Paints) and Milton Karisa (BUL F.C).

The camp at Njeru now has 23 players, who will play in the two friendly matches against Gabon and Cameroon.

The match against Gabon will be played on Sunday, 10th January 2016 as the one against Cameroon comes three days later.

Both matches will be played at the FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.

This is the final squad that will be used in Rwanda.

Goalkeepers: James Alitho (Vipers S.C), Mathias Kigonya (Bright Stars F.C), Watenga Ismail (Vipers FC)

Defenders: OKot  Denis (KCCA FC), Kasagga Richard (URA FC), Nsubuga Joseph (Bright Stars), Muleme Isaac (SC Villa Jogoo),  Hassan Wasswa Dazzo
