The final installation process of the astro-turf surface at the Phillip Omondi stadium in Lugogo has now started.
The exercise follows the release of the project’s report on initial stages by a FIFA Consultant on Natural grass and Artificial turf Stephen Baker who visited the country on Tuesday.
According to the project manager, Camille Akonon from Benin, the whole work is expected to be completed by end of February.
Dutch based Edel Grass Company is responsible for the installation of the turf.
We are now at the process of laying the turf which is expected to be completed in a few days.
Rubber will be added to the turf to achieve a quality playing surface which enhance the bounce of the ball
Ramon Kuttschreutter, a Dutch born expert working with Edel Grass said.
The project spokesman, Ahmed Hussein briefed the media about gradual progress of the project since the ground breaking ceremony in August 2015.
The Phillip Omondi stadium artificial turf project is under the FIFA less privileged projects that FIFA awarded to FUFA.
FUFA stands to be awarded with similar projects owing to the cordial relationship that exists with the world’s football governing body.
