Lungunjja Galaxy Football Club booked their berth in the next stage of the Kampala region Uganda Cup stage after overcoming Edgars Youth 2-0 in the preliminary round.
Lungunjja is joined by City Lads, Life Eternal, Bweyogerere, Corporate XI, Dalumba, KCCA, Kyambogo and St Mary’s at the next stage.
City Lads scored the most goals, humiliating Future Stars 5-1.
Bweyogerere F.C won 1-0 at Mutungo as Corporate XI overcame Nakivubo Boys 3-1.
Life Eteranal gritted their teeth to eliminate Kyebando Hearts 2-1, the same result was reflected as Dalumba beat Kyokeza with Denis Kisakye and Majidu Kavuma on the score sheet for the former.
Three fixtures were determined by a nail biting finishes as they ended in FIFA Post Match Spot kicks.
KCCA were 4-2 penalty winners over Soana Young after a 1 all draw.
Kyambogo defeated KASE 5-4 after another 1 all draw before Kawempe’s St Mary’s smiled 5-4 after a grilling 2-2 draw in normal time.
Kampala region has 5 slots and each of these teams that qualified will be expected to play quarters and the final play –off games to determine who makes it to the last 64 round.
The Uganda Premier League (16) and FUFA Big League (25) shall together total up to 41 teams with a remainder of 23 teams for Round of 64/first round to qualify from the preliminary round.
The 23 teams from preliminary rounds shall be determined through the following allocation of slots for the entire country by FUFA Regions:
(i) Kampala Region – 5 teams
(ii) Buganda Region – 4 teams
(iii) Eastern Region – 3 teams
(iv) Western Region – 3 teams
(v) North East Region – 2 teams
(vi) Kitara Region – 2 teams
(vii) West Nile Region – 2 teams
(viii) Northern Region – 2 teams
