Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has officially launched the Airtel-FUFA Awards for the year 2016 at Achwa Hall Serena Hotel in Kampala on Monday, 14th November 2016.
The launch was graced by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo, Dennis Mbidde (Chairperson of the FUFA Awards organizing Committee), Airtel Uganda Marketing Director, Indrajeet Kumar, Remmie Kisakye (Head of Brand and Marketing at Airtel Uganda), Pamela Abonyo (NIC Corporate Communications Manager), Tonny Mutengo of SMS one media company, Bobkins Kibirige of Kibo Media group, FUFA Secretariat staff, media among others.
The awards are slated to take place on Friday, 2nd December 2016 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
These awards follow a successful event held at Munyonyo last year where Faruku Miya and Sandra Nabwteeme won the male and female MVP’s respectively.
Dennis Mbidde, the awards committee chairperson acknowledged the purpose of such awards as a motivational tool to all footballers in the country.
Footballers who have won prestigious FUFA Awards have not remained the same. Take an example of Brian Umony, Robert Sentongo and lately Faruku Miya and Sandra Nabweteeme.They have all been motivated by the awards and they are now prosperous.
Airtel Uganda who have been heavily represented by the Marketing Director and brand & communications manager revealed the Ug.shs 100M package towards the awards organization.
“We are humbled to continue to supporting football development in Uganda. We re-affirm the commitment to support football growth in Uganda and such awards are part of recognizing and rewarding excelling talents” Remmy Kisakye noted.

Canaan Sites Limited, represented by Edmund Mutebi attended the event but will explore the oportunity of being part of the awards.
Four catergories of the best male, female, fan favourite (local and international) will be voted by fans through an sms media plat form. Tonny Mutengo of SMS 1 explained the formality of voting via SMS.
“Voters will be asked to write a key word – FUFA, then write the code of the personality they want to vote and send to 8888”. National Insurance Corporation (NIC) once again vowed to support the awards, just like they did the previous year. NIC was represented by the Corporate and Communications manager, Pamela Abonyo.
There are 11 catergories of awards to be given out to the various winners including players, referees and coaches.
MVP – Male nominees Dennis Onyango, Faruku Miya, Joseph Ochaya, Muhammed Shaban and Erisa Ssekisambu
MVP – Female nominees: Sandra Nabweteeme, Ruth Aturo, Christine Nambirigee and Hasfa Nassuna

Fufa Presidential Award (Award given out by FUFA President)
Fufa Fair play award (Given to team with least bookings in all FUFA sanctioned competitions)
Fufa beach soccer player of the year
Fufa coach of the year
Fufa referee of the year
Fufa upcoming talent (Awarded to a player from the FUFA Junior’s league and Airtel rising stars)
Fans Favourite player of the year(strictly Ugandan player)
Fans favourite player in other leagues
