2017 AFCON – UGANDA VS BOTSWANA: Players ready to fight for Slots on the Team

The Uganda Cranes training continued for the fourth day running on Thursday at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Despite the rains that partly disrupted the sessions, the team players are ready to fight for the playing slots available.

Defender, Shafiq Bakaki who had his debut match against Nigeria Eagles has vowed to fight for a place on the team.

Though the number of players at training is big, I am doing whatever is necessary to be considered by the coach

Said Bakaki, who has been featuring for Express Football Club in the domestic season.

He added that Uganda has many talented players and all eying the national team and it’s such a great opportunity to be part of those training with the national team.

Whoever the coach chooses is the best ,am contented that even if am not part of the final list , I have trust in those selected to give the nation the best display

Bakaki was part of the Uganda U-23 team that eliminated the Rwanda counterparts 4-1 aggregates to progress to the next round of the Africa U-23 championship qualifiers.

In a related development, the national team coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic is expected to give the final list of Cranes team A as he termed it,( the Cranes team A is the one to play Botswana at the 2017 Gabon AFCON qualifiers) Friday after the training session.
