2017 Airtel FUFA Awards

The 2017 Airtel FUFA Awards have been launched at Kampala Serena Hotel on Thursday.
For the third year running, telecommunications giants Airtel Uganda Limited will be the main sponsors.
Just like the previous editions, this year’s awards will be at Speke Resort Munyonyo on 1st December 2017.
Addressing the members of the media Dennis Mbidde, chairman of the 2017 FUFA Awards organizing committee, hailed the sponsors, partners, players, fans and the entire football fraternity for the necessary due support.

Mbidde stressed on the essence of these awards.
The awards are to reward excellence and efforts of the players for the season gone by.
These awards are motivational. Winners of these awards for the past editions have climbed a ladder or two in their respective careers. From Faruku Miya, Sandra Nabweteeme, Hasifa Nassuna to Muhammed Shaban, you could see development for the better.
This year, the story will continue with yet another glamorous event

The main sponsors Airtel Uganda offered U.shs 100M towards the Awards organization.

National Insurance Corporation (NIC) offered U.shs 10M towards the organization of the event, announced by the NIC head public communications.
David Gonahasa, the managing director of Round Bob announced a $5000 sponsorship for the two winners to facilitate their travel expenses to the mid east.
‘We are glad to be associated with these awards. We have offered two return air tickets worth $ 5000 for winners to Dubai’ Gonahasa noted.
FUFA Executive Committee member, Rogers Byamukama, also the FUFA chairman Marketing committee represented the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo at the launch.
FUFA is glad that the awards are back and better.
As the federation, we eye rewarding talent and appreciating the best.
This is a time to celebrate and reward the players as well as coaches than anybody else.

The launch was also attended by the FUFA Marketing Director Esther Musoke, Kenneth Bayo (Head of Public Sector at Eco Bank Uganda), Tonny Mutengu (Bussiness development manager at SMS One) and the events main organizer Bobkins Kibirige of Kibo Media Limited.
Catergories of the awards:
There are 11 categories of the awards to be given out on that black tie awards night.
Male Airtel FUFA Award, Female Airtel FUFA Award, FUFA Best XI, FUFA Presidential Award, FUFA Fair Play Award, FUFA Up coming Talent, FUFA Referees Award, FUFA Coach of the year, Beach Soccer Player of the year, Fans’ player of the year -Ugandan & other leagues foreign based.
MVP Nominees:
The final list for the Most Valuable Players was determined by the coaches in the Azam Uganda Premier League.
Male: Geofrey Sserunkuma (KCCA, Buildcon and Uganda Cranes), Muzamiru Mutyaba (KCCA and Uganda Cranes ), Tadeo Lwanga (SC Villa, Vipers and Uganda Cranes)
Female: Hasfa Nassuna (Kawempe Muslim, UCU Lady Cardinals and Crested Cranes), Vanesa Karungi (Olila High School), Fazila Ikwaput (Olila High School and Crested Cranes)
Each of the MVP (male and female) will drive home with a grand prize of a car.

Voting Criteria:
Fans will be involved in the determining the Most Valuable Player through sms voting courtesy of SMS one media.

Other partners
Nile Breweries Limited, also the official beer partner of Uganda Cranes are part of the awards.
The others are BIDCO Uganda Limited (offered Shs 5M towards as a catergory sponsor), Round Bob, Azam TV and 102.1 FUFA f.m.
