The Uganda Cranes interim coach has on Wednesday addressed the media during a press conference at FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.
Basena released a 27 man sqaud that will take on Egypt for the double header in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
‘I wish to thank the players, FUFA, media and all the Ugandans for the support during the recently concluded successful CHAN qualification campaign. It is great that we qualified, a process that we shall build on for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Egypt’ Basena said.
During the press conference, Basena was flanked by the FUFA Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein, Decolas Kiiza (FUFA Finance Director) and Patrick Ntege Kaweesa (The National Teams’ Officer).
The team continues with the non residential training sessions at Mandela national Stadium, Namboole on Wednesday evening.
This weekend, the team will travel for the national team regional tours in North East (Bukedea).

What has happened to players like Moses Oloya, Henry Kalungi, Mike Azira who have been very active with their respective clubs? It makes no sense to call players plying their trade in even weaker leagues than our local league and players like Iguma who have not kicked a ball since AFCON in January and ignore experienced players who can make great contributions to the team.
I also wondering particularly KALUNGI who we need badly and he is active here in the league. Eb8ntu bya uganda banange
If your selection was based on performance . How come Mike Azira is missing yet he starts for his team in every game and you call up Aucho Khalid who is not attached to any club ? please am not saying Aucho is a bad player but he has no club currently. Anyway I will do my duty of supporting my National.
