Referees with Grade II and Grade III badges from across the country embarked on a journey that could see them improve on their performances hence moving up the ranks.
All the FUFA 8 regions conducted promotional exercises for over 250 referees that covered Saturday and Sunday. The referees did exams in theory, oral and practical under the new system released by FIFA during the physical fitness tests.

The FUFA Referees Manual that is already in use will also help in the grading of referees. The Referees Manual has five grades.

Kampala Region Football Association conducted the exercise at Kyambogo University where the referees did two sets of exams (two and half hours written and oral examinations).

The fitness tests were conducted on Sunday morning and supervised by experienced referees Instructors Hajji Abbas Sendyowa and Yusuf Awuye supervised the written exam before taking on the participants for a one on one oral exams.
Elizabeth Nassolo and Zainabu Nakintu were female referees who took part in the exercise held at Kyambogo.

The exams will be marked on Thursday and Friday.
Promotional centres that conducted the exercise over the weekend
- Buganda Region-Mpigi Central Secondary School in Mpigi and UCU in Mukon supervised by Dennis Ojwee and Samuel Egesa Wesonga
- Northern Region MDC in Lira conducted by Edrisa Kiwanuka
- North East Region- Soroti Sports ground supervised by George Kabwimukya
- Western Region in Ntungamo at the Council Hall and Kyamate play ground under David Davis Katabira
- Kitara Region-Fort Portal (Buhinga Primary School) and Masindi (Educational Hall) under Asumani Kityo and Margaret Kubingi respectively
- Kampala Region-Kyambogo University with Yusuf Awuye and Abbasi Ssendyowa
- West Nile Region in Arua town under the supervision of Catherine Adipo
- Eastern Region-Iganga District with Ali Tomusange in charge.
