Somalia leader meets winless Ocean stars

The president of the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia Sheik Sharif Sheik Ahmed on Saturday afternoon met the Somali National Football Team  Ocean Stars two days after they had been eliminated from this year’s Cecafa Tusker challenge cup here in Dar es salaam city, Tanzania.

Accompanied by the deputy prime minister and minister for defense Hussein Arab Isse and the Somali police Chief General Sharif Sheikhuna Maye, the Somali president said that he was very impressed with the team’s effort to participate in the annual regional event.  “You are really doing a good job for your country, because you have been carried the Somali flag during a very difficult era and still look focused to do so—I encourage you to continue”, the President told the Somali players. Somalia lost all its three group matches and returns home pointless and with eleven goals conceded against one.

The meeting also attended by the Somali Football Federation (SFF) officials was held in one of the hotels in Dar es salaam city centre according to Somali Football Federation media officer Shafi’I Mohyaddin Abokar. Somali FA Secretary General, Abdi Qani Said Arab was among the officials present.
