CAF B License Coaching Diploma Course got underway on Monday at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. The course is organised by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) in conjunction with CAF and has brought together 25 participants – mainly from first, second and third division leagues.
The coaches are expected to complete the course after three phases of intensive training that will stretch across a period of four months, and this will provide each participant a minimum of 200 hours of learning.
In the first phase, the participants will learn – planning and preparing training sessions, delivering a training session, developing a coaching philosophy, coach-coaching, understanding the game, offensive principles of play, defensive principles of play, team organisation and coaching methodology.
CAF instructors – Jackson Nyima and Douglas Bamweyana are facilitating phase one of the course. They will be joined by several CAF instructors at the latter stages of the training.
This program is strategically in line with FUFA’s Technical Master Plan (TMT) 2023-2030 which doesn’t only aim at nurturing elite youth football for boys and girls, but also caters for coach education.
Speaking after the commencement of the course, FUFA Education Manager – Jackson Nyima said;
“I am here to inform the entire nation that we have started the CAF B Diploma Coaching Course, and we have registered 25 participants.”
“This program started with a pre-entry exercise that was carried out two weeks ago where we received 70 applications. It’s from those applicants that we picked the twenty-five who met the minimum requirements that we wanted.”
“The reason why we have embarked on this course is to make sure we implement what is in the Technical Master Plan where coach education is also catered for. I believe that the coaches who are here are very passionate, and ofcourse they are all active as they’re attached to clubs.”
“We shall be taking them through the practical and theory sessions of coaching for all their time here.”
“The course will take a minimum of 200 hours. There will be assessment of each and every participant, and by the end of the day, we will get the best coaches.”
