AFCON 2017 UPDATE: Micho says all players are part of the dream as Uganda Cranes squad to Tunisia is named

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Sredojevic named the 26 man squad to Tunisia for the team’s extended and planned preparations ahead of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2017 in Gabon.

Micho took his players through the morning drills on Friday at the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) Campus in Kabojja then released his players to say good byes to their families before returning to the team Hotel at Serene Suites at 3 pm, then head to Entebbe Airport before flying out later today at 6 pm aboard Ethiopian Airlines.

Four players who have been part of the training sessions that started way back on 19th December that culminated into 19 rigorous training sessions will not travel to Tunisia.

However Micho believes that they are still part of the dream.

‘We have assessed every player in this squad and all are part of the project. We have talked to the quartet to remain in shape because football is very dynamic and full of challenges’ said Micho.

Abdul Malik Vitalis, Ronald Mukiibi, Isma Watenga and Derrick Nsibambi will not travel with the squad.

Three more players will be reduced before the team travels to Abu Dhabi for friendlies against Slovakia and Ivory Coast.

The 26 man squad named;

Goalkeepers: Odongkara Robert, Benjamin Ochan, Salim Jamal, Denis Onyango

Rest of the squad: Denis Iguma, Nicholas Wadada, Joseph Ochaya, Murushid Juuko, Shafiq Batambuze, Godfrey Walusimbi, Isaac Isinde, Hassan Wasswa, Timothy Awanyi, Mike Azira, Tonny Mawejje, Geoffrey Kizito, Luwagga Kizito Moses Oloya, Muzamir Mutyaba, Khalid Aucho, Geoffrey Massa, Idris Lubega, Muhammad Shaban, Geoffrey Serunkuma, Yunus Sentamu and Faruku Miya.

Four foreign based players Luwagga Kizito, Geoffrey Kizito, Moses Oloya and Robert Odongkara will connect from their respective clubs to Tunisia while Denis Onyango is under special fitness training session.
