AFCON U-17 Qualifiers (CECAFA Zone):
Group A: Uganda 3-0 Ethiopia
Uganda U-17 National Team (The Cubs) won their second game at the on-going CECAFA U-17 championships in Rwanda, condemning Ethiopia 3-0 at the Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu on Friday.
Striker Oscar Mawa scored a brace and midfielder Ivan Irinimbabazi added the other as Uganda Cubs triumphed in a game played under heavy rains.
Mawa broke the resilience of the Ethiopians with a 17th minute goal.



This was added by Irinimbabazi’s second with 10 minutes to the climax of the opening stanza.
The Ugandan youngsters thus led 2-0 by the half way mark.
Mawa made it three with another strike after 62 minutes.
This was the second victory for Uganda in a space of three days following the earlier humbling of Kenya 5-0 in the group A opener at the same venue on Wednesday.
Uganda Cubs will take on Djibouti in the semi-finals on Sunday, 20th December 2020.

The two finalists at this year’s championship will qualify for the AFCON finals in 2021 that will be hosted in Morocco.
