FUFA has confirmed that Rt. Hon Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda will be the Guest of Honour during the Airtel FUFA Awards due on Sunday 13th December, 2015 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The Premier is an ardent fan of sports especially football where he has been a Chief Guest for Uganda Cranes Games at Namboole stadium this year.
‘We confirm that the Rt. Hon Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda will be the Guest of Honour. The programme starts at 5pm’ said FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein
The awards under the theme ‘Celebrating Uganda’s Finest Footballers’ will see the FUFA Male and Female player of the year walk away with a car each.
Eleven Categories were shortlisted from which winners will be selected under different criteria with the help and guidance of technical people.
The Airtel FUFA Awards will be broadcast live on UBC TV.

Category 1; Airtel-FUFA Male Player of the Year: Keziron Kizito (Vipers, Uganda Cranes), Faruku Miya (Vipers SC, Uganda Cranes, Yasser Mugerwa (URA FC/Orlando Pirates)
Category 2: Pepsi-FUFA Female player of the year: Sandra Nabweteme ( Kawempe Muslim Secondary School Women FC, Crested Crane), Hasifah Nassuna (Nabweteme ( Kawempe Muslim Secondary School Women FC, Crested Crane) and Winnie Babirye (Buikwe She Red Stars, Crested Crane)
Category 3: FUFA Best XI: This category is voted for by members of the Uganda Football Players Association (UFPA). All players; retired and active are members of the UFPA. The players will chose the best keeper, defenders, midfielders and strikers in a 4-3-3 format.
Category 4: FUFA Presidential Award; The recipient of this award is selected by the FUFA President. The Presidential Award may be conferred in honour of one special event or a lifetime achievement by an individual either in the areas of administration, Referee, Coach, Sports Medicine, Media, Fan, support personnel, Employee etc who is deemed by the FUFA President to have contributed to the game of football.
Category 5: FUFA Fair Play Award; Discipline is key in all sports inclusive of football. This award will go to the team that had the least number of yellow cards and Red cards last season in the AUPL.
Category 6: FUFA Upcoming Talent: Frank Tumwesigye (KJT/Vipers U-17 team), Alex Komakech (KJT/Vipers U-17) and Faisal Ssekyanzi (St May’s Heritage / Express FC U-17)
Category 7: FUFA Referee of the Year; Denis Batte (FIFA Referee), Mark Ssonko (FIFA Assistant Referee), Brian Nsubuga (FIFA Referee)
Category 8: FUFA Coach of the year: Faridah Lubega (Gafford Ladies/Wakiso United), Ayub Khalifan (Kawempe Muslim secondary School women FC/Kireka United) and Mark Twinamatsiko (The saints/ Jinja Kirinya SS)
Category 9: FUFA Beach Soccer player of the year: Douglas Muganga (Nkumba Select), Brian Nkuubi (MUBS/St Lawrence University) and Baker Lukooya (MUBS/ St Lawrence University)
Category 10: Fans’ Favourite player: This award will also be determined by the fans. It is limited to Ugandans irrespective of where they are playing their club football.
Category 11: Fans’ Favourite player in European Leagues
This award will also be determined by the fans. This is not limited to any nationality inclusive of Ugandans meaning any player in any club in Europe may be voted
