ANDY MWESIGWA: We are ready to die a little for our country

Date: 19th November, 2014

Uganda Cranes skipper Andy Mwesigwa has said they are ready to die a little for the country when they face Guinea tomorrow in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

Mwesigwa told Fufa.co.ug at the Hotel Casablanca Le Lido Thalasso & Spa on Monday night that the whole team is eager to play their hearts out and get a good result to see Uganda qualify for Afcon.

‘We know the Guinea team will be more on pressure because we beat them 2-0 in Kampala’ added the skipper.

He called upon Ugandans to keep their fingers crossed and pray for the team to qualify because it has been a long wait since 1978 since Uganda last qualified.

The Cranes are second in Group E with seven points, while Guinea has the same number of points, but with an inferior goal difference. In-case of a draw Uganda will qualify for the 2015 Afcon on a better goal difference and head to head.

Ghana who took part in the 2014 World Cup, lead the Group with eight points and will need to win against Emmanuel Adebayor’s Togo in the last Group game on Wednesday.

After their humiliating 4-1 loss to Guinea last weekend in Lome, the Sparrow Hawks have promised to come back strongly against the Black Stars.
