Sports Club Villa Jogoo kicked off the 2017/18 Azam Uganda Premier League on a promising note, winning 1-0 over visiting Soana at the Masaka Recreational Stadium on Tuesday.
Second half substitute Vitalis Tabu scored the only goal on the day in the 72nd minute of the game. moments after replacing Allan Kyambadde.
The Jogoos were the only side that managed to win in the 6 matches played on the opening day.
All the other 5 matches ended in goal-less draws. 10 man Bright Stars fought gallantly to hold Vipers at the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe.
Onduparaka and Proline were in Arua, BUL played Mbarara City in Jinja and champions KCCA faced Maroons at Lugogo.
Meanwhile, the Masavu versus Police encounter was not played.
The league committee will await for the match commissioner and referees reports before making a ruling as soon as possible.
Two matches will be played on Wednesday.
