The 2015/16 Azam Uganda Uganda Premier League successfully kicked off to a bright start with four fixtures played at different venues on Saturday.
The defending champions, Vipers Sports Club and former champions, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club commenced with identical sets of 3-0 victories over their opponents.
In Buikwe, Vipers overcame newcomers, The Saints 3-0 with Brian Nkuubi scoring one before Uganda U-23 skipper, Farouk Miya registered a brace. Vipers never lost a league match in Buikwe last season.
The Saints FC were unfortunate to return empty handed – at least without a goal to show after missing a series of chances in either half.
The game in Buikwe was televised live on Azam Television-official broadcasters and sponsors of the top flight League in Uganda.
At Bugembe stadium inJinja, KCCA F.C brought to an end the losing streak over Sadolin Paints- winning 3-0 on the day. Sadolin registered a double over KCCA last season.
Defender, Paul Kisige diverted Joseph Ochaya’s cross past his own goal keeper for the opener within the opening 10 minutes of the game.
New recruit, Nelson Ssenkatuuka and Ochaya got the other goals for the Mike Mutebi and Sam Ssimbwa coaching combo.
At the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, Express will leave to forget a wasteful evening at office as they played to a goal-less draw with visitors Police F.C.
A similar result was registered at Kavumba Recreational stadium when Soana F.C hosted Kawempe side, Bright Stars football club.
Both sides created chances in the game but failed to hit the back of the net.
The table standings per now imply KCCA F.C and Vipers jointly share the top spot.
