Azam Uganda Premier League: Vipers close gap on leaders KCCA

There were 14 goals scored on Tuesday in the seven Azam Uganda Premier league matches played.

Table leaders, Kampala Capital City Authority football club and Lweza played to a one all draw a result that favoured the reigning league champions, Vipers who won it late 1-0 at Bright Stars.

Lweza F.C fought gallantly to equalize through Geofrey Sserunkuma’s goal, ten minutes from full time to cancel Derrick Nsibambi’s opener.

Lweza had earlier on missed a penalty when forward player, Emmanuel Kalyowa watched in disbelief as his weak attempt was saved by the goalkeeper, Benjamin Ochan.

Ochan had a few days ago survived a nasty accident on Entebbe road when a private car rammed into a taxi he was traveling in to claim three people.

Vipers beat Bright Stars in Mwelerwe as they scored a late goal through Deus Bukenya to keep momentum on KCCA and alight their chances of a successful title defence.

At the Mehta stadium in Lugazi, Uganda Revenue Authority F.C were 2-0 winners over Jinja Municipal Council Hippos to jump to third on the table standings.


Feni Ali and second half substitute, Ronald Kigongo scored the goals for the ‘tax collectors’ side.

Shaka Ssozi scored his first ever goal in a BUL F.C jersey for the match winner that puts Simba in a serious mathematical equation bearing in mind The Saints won 4-1 over Sports Club Victoria University in all Namboole affair.

Patrick Kaddu scored a penalty for Maroons in their 1-0 home result against Police F.C.
