Bakaki guides Nkana to Zambia league crown, Lubega scoring exploits continue in Estonia

The Uganda football ambassadors everywhere in the world continue to stamp authority in the respective countries from where they ply their professional trade.

It was sweet success for defender Shafiq Bakaki of Nkana Football Club as they won the 2019-20 Zambia Super league with 50 points, same as Forest Rangers but the victors had a superior goal difference.

On the contrary, there were tears for Mathias Kigonya whose Forest Rangers blew up the opportunity to clinch the title on the last day of the season at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola city.

Forest Rangers came into final game of the season against Zanaco with the mission to get maximum points, but the game ended goal-less.

Paul Musamali’s Buildcon FC finished in 13th place.

Goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi’s Red Arrows finished in 10th place while the duo of Misi Katende and Brian Bwete’s Mufulirwa who were licensed at Wanderers got relegated.

In Estonia, Edrisa Lubega maintained the rich vein of form in the Estonia Meistrilliga League with brace as Paide Linammeskond downed Tallina Kalev 4-0.

Lubega scored in the 8th and 16th minute to take his season tally to 10 goals.

In Egypt, midfielder Khalid Aucho was an unused substitute as his Misr Lemakasa side defeated Aswan 2-1.

Elsewhere, defender Timothy Awany featured as his Ashdod FC side bowed out of the Israel Toto cup as they lost 0-1 at home to Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, William Luwagga Kizito also featured as his Hapoel Kfar Saba side fell 3-0 on the road to Netanya in the Toto cup.

Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango made an assist as his Mamelodi Sundowns side defeated Bidvest wits 3-2 to progress to the next stage of the Nedbank cup.

Mamelodi Sundowns will face Bloemfontein Celtic in the final. Celtic defeated Baroka 3-0 in the other semi-final.

For the Swedish Allsvenskan, defender Ronald Mukiibi returned from injury coming on in the 88th minute for Haugan as Ostersunds FK side lost 0-1 at home to ten-man Elfsborg.

Another Ugandan defender Isak Ssewankambo played full time for Ostersunds FK.

Striker Alexis David Bbakka wasn’t in the match day squad (due to injury) as his Umea FC side lost 1-0 on the road to Jonkopings in the Suppretan,

In the Swedish Allsvenskan Women, Viola Nambi wasn’t in the matchday squad as her Vaxjo DFF W lost 3-0 away against Eskistuna United W.

Bevis Mugabi played full time in central defence as his Motherwell FC side lost 0-1 at home to Dundee United as the Scottish Premier League kicked off.
