FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers (Group E):
Match Day 4:
- Uganda Cranes 1-0 Rwanda Amavubi Stars
- Kenya Harambee Stars 0-1 Mali Les Aigles
Uganda Cranes once again smiled to a 1-0 win over rivals Rwanda during the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers (group E) at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Sunday, 10th October 2021.
Aziz Fahad Bayo was the hero with the goal, like he scored at Stade De Kigali – Nyamirambo on Thursday. It was a perfect Independence gift to Ugandans as the country had marked the 59th Celebrations on 9th October.
Bayo’s goal at Kitende came in the 22nd minute, still in similar fashion after a corner kick delivery by left winger Isaac Muleme. In the game against Rwanda in Kigali, Muleme played at left full back.
Uganda Cranes had the opportunities to improve on the score but efforts from Steven Mukwala, Moses Waiswa and Bobosi Byaruhanga were all missed.
There was a debut moment for Vipers’ Livingstone Mulondo who replaced the injured Timothy Denis Awanyi late in the game while Abdul Aziz Kayondo made his full debut. Kayondo got his first cap against Rwanda three days earlier while Martin Kizza got his 2nd cap.
Uganda is now on 8 points, two behind Mali who beat Kenya 1-0 on the same day. Kenya remains on two points and Rwanda is on a single point.
Uganda Cranes return to action next month at home to rivals Kenya before the away trip to Morocco to face Mali in the final group E duel.
