Ahead of the up coming 2015/16 beach soccer season, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has supported the Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) with an assortment of over 120 balls.
Receiving the balls on Friday, an overwhelmed Deo Mutabazi, the Chairman of the Uganda Beach Soccer Association lauded the federation for the generous offer.
This is a great gesture of developing beach soccer in Uganda. We are grateful to FUFA. We plan to give at least 5 balls to each of the clubs in the national league.
The national beach soccer league is tentatively scheduled to run starting this month (August 2015) as per the FUFA Activity yearly plan.
Uganda is among the three nations on the African continent that runs a national beach soccer league, which has been running for the past 5 years.
The national team, The Sand Cranes played actively for the first time this year losing to Ghana in the CAF Beach soccer championship qualifiers.
Uganda boosts of three FIFA Beach soccer referees.
These are; Ivan Kintu , Mohmmed Ssenteza and Shafic Mugerwa.
The other seven non FIFA referees are; Moses Ssebuliba, Ali Sekimwanyi, Jackson Busingye, Bruno Kiyimba, Justine Nambafu, Betty Nankabirwa and Viola Kamulegeya.
