As Confederation of African football (CAF) and Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) look at developing the game of football further to greater heights, the continental together with local football governing body Fufa have embarked on capacity-building as the only way to see things happen in the game.
The highly rated coaching course in the country is attended by 69 coaches both from Big and Premier league clubs all over the country.
According to Fufa Education Officer who is also coordinating the course Mr. Jackson Nyima says the course will run for two successive weeks at Njeru Technical Center.
“We’re here for a period of two weeks. We started on Monday 22nd September and it will run upto Sunday 05th October and I am sure in the end coaches will have benefited” Noted Fufa education officer Jackson Nyima while at Njeru Technical center.
He also pointed out that this course is brought up to increase on the number of coaches with CAF C coaching licences in the country.
“Before we have had 28 coaches with CAF C coaching certificates in the whole Uganda the number we feel is too small to lift up the game” Nyima highlighted.
“I am certain the course will improve on the number and quality of our football coaches in the country”
Meanwhile, one of the course instructors Mr. Livingstone Kyambade says he is overwhelmed by CAF and FUFA for putting such courses in place for our coaches to learn and upgrade their levels in coaching
“What has stunted the growth of the game in Uganda is that we have lacked good number of professional coaches, now it’s high time we solve this out” Overjoyed Kyambadde notified.
“A professional coach knows how to nurture and develop player’s talents so I predict a better future for Uganda’s’ football with these professional coaches we’re getting”.
Well, into the course coaches have been taught modules like team management, Player development, Principles of teaching and coaching, development of techniques and skills, factors affecting performance, physical preparations of young players among other units.
The course is attended by some notable coaches like Richard Makumbi of premier league side Soana fc, Andy Lule of Entebbe fc, Fred Lumu of KCC, Samuel Kawalya of Express, Richard Magala of URA, Ibrahim Kirya Of Sc Villa, Amate Richard of Simba Tanzania among others
