Two Ugandan clubs Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Vipers were in action over the week in the respective CAF club competitions.

At the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, Vipers fell short 2-0 to visiting Club Sportif (CS) Constantinois in the first round return leg encounter of the CAF Confederation cup on Saturday.

Adil Djabout and Mohamed Walid Bencherifa scored the goals for the visitors in the second stanza of the well contested game handled by Egyptian referees.

Having also lost the first leg 1-0 away in Algeria, Vipers lost 3-0 on aggregate and will now get relegated to the CAF Confederation play offs whose draws will be held on Friday, 28th December 2018.

‘I feel proud of my players. They showed the character to perform well but did not do enough to win the game. They represented their country with pride’ Vipers’ Mexician coach Javier Martinez Espinoza told the media after the match.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s other representative in the CAF Club competition, KCCA qualified for the final round of the CAF Confederation qualifiers, after eliminating Mtibwa Sugar from Tanzania 5-1 on aggregate.

KCCA won the return leg 2-1 courtesy of goals from the 2017 Airtel FUFA Uganda best male footballer Muzamiru Mutyaba and the 2018 Airtel FUFA Uganda male runners up Allan Okello at the Azam Sports Complex in Dar es salaam.

Salum Kihimbwa had scored for the Tanzanian club to make the game square at one all during some stage before Okello’s late strike two minutes from full time.

KCCA had won the first leg 3-0 at the Star Times Stadium in Kampala a week earlier and qualify 5-1 on aggregate.

FUFA Executive Committee member Agnes Mugena was leader of delegation for the KCCA FC contingent in Dar es salaam.
