CAF Confederation Cup: Hard fighting Vipers stopped by Platinum Stars

Platinum Stars 3-1 Vipers (Platinum Stars progress 3-2 on aggregate)

South African side Platinum Stars required two penalties, both converted by goalie Mzimela Mbogeni as the home side overcame Uganda’s Vipers 3-1 at the Royal Bafokeng stadium on Saturday night in the CAF Confederation cup.

Ndumiso Mabena scored the other goal as striker Milton Karisa got one back for the visitors.

Karisa had also scored in the first leg played at St Mary’s stadium, Kitende last week.

Platinum Stars’ Robert N’gambi was red carded for two bookable offences.

Vipers technical department called for the only change to the starting eleven that had started the game a week ago in Uganda.

Left back Aggrey Madoi who had missed the first leg replaced Dan Birikwalira in the starting line up for the reigning FUFA Uganda Cup champions.

The South Africans thus qualify 3-2 on aggregate having lost the first leg in Uganda.
