CAF grants FUFA permission to host International Matches at Namboole

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has given the green light to FUFA to host International Matches at the refurbished Mandela National Stadium (Namboole).

In a letter dated 12th May 2024 addressed to FUFA CEO Edgar Watson, CAF confirmed they were satisfied with the new developments at the stadium.

“Reference to participation of your team in the FIFA World Cup United 2026 African Qualifiers matchday 3&4, following reinspection of the Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) conducted by CAF inspectors, we acknowledge the improvements undertaken in various facilities in accordance with previous remarks from CAF,” reads part of the letter.

“We commend the stadium management and your Association for your concerted efforts.”

Uganda will host Botswana on 7th June and Algeria on 10th June 2024 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Uganda Cranes last played at Namboole on 17th November 2019 against Malawi, a game that ended in a 2-0 win courtesy of Emmanuel Okwi and Fahad Bayo goals.
