CAF U-20 Qualifiers: Uganda Hippos defeat Rwanda to book Egypt date

CAF U-20 Qualifiers (1st Round, Return Leg):

Uganda 2-1 Rwanda (Agg: 3-2)

The Uganda Hippos have qualified to the second and final stage of the CAF U-20 qualifiers following a hard fought 2-1 result on the day against Rwanda Junior Wasps at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Saturday.

Rwanda took the lead in the 17th minute after striker Abeddy Biramahire had headed home a cross from the right wing coming off Ange Mutsinzi.

Zake Luboyera then equalized three minutes later before slotting home a penalty in the 47th minute.

Uganda’s Umar Mukobe was booked in the added minutes of the game for suspect time wasting.

Uganda now progresses after winning 3-2 on aggregate and they will play Egypt at the next stage.


The successful winner over the two legs will qualify for the 2017 CAF U-20 finals that will be hosted by Zambia.

FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo was the chief guest at the game.
