Capacity building: CAF Member Associations’ media officers converge in Cameroon

FUFA is represented at the 2nd edition of the CAF Media capacity building in Cameroon that started on Sunday and ends on Thursday.

The training sessions were divided into two groups-for the Francophone participants who completed their turn last week while the Anglophone participants are undergoing theirs at the CAF Centre of Excellence in Mbankomo.

The Communications Manager Ahmed Hussein is representing FUFA at the workshop designed and organized for all CAF Member Association staff who handles media related issues for their federations.

The media officers have been taken through the modern ways of executing their work with a lot of ease and also updated on what to expect at the Total 2017 AFCON Finals in Gabon.

Day one session covered the general guidelines on organizational communication for internal and external, public relations, adapting to guidelines of other sports organizations.

Media operations during CAF competitions is also another area tackled especially for the media who are making their first appearance at the workshop.

With the media world improving each passing day with various innovations, the participants have also already been taken through the methods of conceiving and applying the digital strategies.

UEFA Media and Public Relations Manager Greg Biskos covered the better part of day one on Sunday passing on tips and sharing various experiences from an African sports media world.

CAF Media Director Junior Binyam says that the workshop has come in handy for the participants.

‘We are here to learn new things and also refresh ourselves as the public expects us to be at the top of our game’

CAF Executive Committee member and head of Media Committee Benin FA President Anjorin Moucharafou presided over the opening ceremony.

‘The media revolution at CAF was introduced by Junior Binyam. We believe in his abilities and he has done a commendable job’ said Moucharafou.

23 countries Anglophone countries were invited. These are; Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, Mauritius, South Sudan, Rwanda, Mozambique, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Gambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Seychelles and Ghana.
