As a move towards improving the officiation in the game of football, the Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) holds monthly integrated training sessions to ensure all the National referees are fit and in the right state of mind to execute their duties on the pitch as expected.
A total of 50 elite referees have today undergone the training that aims at improving their performance while on duty both domestic and international.

With the many competitions run by FUFA, the Chairman Uganda Football Referees Association (UFRA) Ronnie Kalema believes that such pieces of training improve the referees hence proper execution while handling any given football match in terms of positioning of the referee, decision making and consistency in decisions on different matches.
‘FUFA has a number of competitions to deliver and referees must implement the 17 FUFA Laws of the game properly. We hold joint training sessions with our instructors to highlight key areas where improvement is needed ‘ noted Kalema

Retired referee Assessor, FIFA and CAF trained instructor Denis Batte emphasised on the aspect of reading and interpreting the laws of the game appropriately.
‘We are mainly interested in a referee who will ably integrate the technical and physical aspects during the game. We are also addressing reading and understanding the amendments and knowing how to apply them’ noted Batte.

‘We hold such trainings to check the fitness levels of referees and make recommendations to the committee for appointments to handle respective games. We also send training programs to each referee in their regions, monitor and assess before any appointment’ noted National Referees Physical Fitness Instructor Ali Kalyango
