FUFA Concussion Injury training Workshop

The Football Development Directorate of FUFA has released the date for the workshop of Concussion and injuries to be organised for the Uganda Premier League teams.
The workshop will be held on 31st July 2019 at Multitec Business Institute-Bukesa.
Stakeholders supporting the workshop
FUFA, Ministry of Education and Sports, Ministry of Health, the University of British Columbia (Injury prevention division), Canada, University of Cape Town (Division for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine), South Africa and the University of Missouri- St. Louis (College of education-Athletic coaching).
The FUFA Football Development Director Ali Mwebe confirmed the workshop.
‘FUFA has organised a workshop on Concussion (Mild Traumatic Brain) injury awareness training tools (CATTONLINE) for the 16 StarTimes Uganda Premier League Clubs. The aim of the training is to equip participants with resources and tools for managing concussion injury-related issues in football’ said Mwebe
‘The participants will be equipped with ways to recognise, prevent and manage concussions as well as mitigating future concussion. Participants will be given a certificate of completion together with concussion manuals given to them’ added Mwebe.
Meanwhile, Dr. Timothy Makubuya will provide information about the Co-coaching model for coaches in Uganda thus exploring new opportunities for injury prevention during the workshop.
At least two participants from each UPL Club are invited to attend the workshop that will start from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.
