The on-going CECAFA U-20 Challenge Cup in Uganda entered day four with two thrilling encounters in group B played at FUFA Technical Centre on Tuesday.

Two traditional arch-rivals Kenya and Tanzania faced off in the early kick off at 1:30 PM.

The game lived to its anticipated billing, producing four goals as the two countries settled for a two all draw to qualify for the quarter finals.

On two occasions, Tanzania rallied from a goal down to pick a point in this closely contested duel.

Austin Otieno Odhiambo fired Kenya in the lead in the 26th minute.

Ten minutes later, Andrew Albert Simchimba found the equalizer as the first half ended 1 all.

Patrick Otieno restored Kenya’s lead in the 53rd minute but Abdul Suleiman replied for Tanzania three minutes later.

The result means Kenya and Tanzania are level on points (4) but the former have a better goal difference.

Kenya won their first game 5-0 against Zanzibar while Tanzania defeated Ethiopia 4-0.

The second game on the day witnessed Zanzibar win 2-1 over Ethiopia.

Zanzibar required a stoppage time goal from midfielder Hassan Abubakar Said to edge past Ethiopia.

Sadaam Makame Mohamed put Zanzibar ahead in the first half but Hajiso Abebayehu scored for Ethiopia midway through the second half to have a tense closing moment.

Deep in added time, Said got the match winner and help Zanzibar register their first win.

Group B final games will be played on Thursday with Tanzania playing neighbours Zanzibar while Kenya will face Ethiopia.

Next Matches:

On Wednesday, Somalia will play South Sudan in the final game of group C at the FUFA Technical Centre.

Hosts Uganda will face Sudan at Pece War Memorial Stadium, Gulu in the game that will determine who tops group A.

At the same venue, Eritrea will play Djibouti during the early kick off on Wednesday.
