CECAFA U-17 Girls’ Championship 2019
Match Day One Results
- Tanzania 5- 0 Eritrea
- Kenya 14-0 Somalia
- Uganda 4-0 Burundi
A total of 23 goals were scored on match day one of the 2019 CECAFA U17 Girls championship at the FUFA Technical Centre in Uganda on Monday.
Tanzania overcame Eritrea 5-0 during the first game, Kenya humbled Somalia 14-0 in the subsequent match and hosts Uganda beat Burundi 4-0 in the final game on the busy day.
Uganda’s captain and leading forward Juliet Nalukenge scored a hat-trick and Samalie Nakachwa scored the other.
The first game had witnessed Tanzania humble Eritrea 5-0 under sunny conditions.
Aisha Hamis Masaka (brace) and Joyce Meshack (hat trick) were on target for Tanzania.
The lunch time kick off saw Kenya humiliate Djibouti 14-0.
Viola Khalai scored five goals, Fasila Adhiambo (four), Anna Arusi (hat trick) and while Doreen Achieng scored once.
Match day two will be played on Wednesday with another round of three matches at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The tournament is played in a round robin format and the team with the highest number of points will be declared the champion.
