Charity: FUFA, football family donate items to Arua Regional remand home

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) joined by the football family has on Thursday morning officially handed over an assortment of donated items to management of the Arua regional remand home in Giligili village, Pajulu sub-county.

The donated items included footballs (5), clothes, shoes, bags and food (2 bags of sugar, 2 bags of rice, 1 carton of wheat flour and 40 litres of cooking oil) under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) cause that is attached to the Uganda Cup competition, arguably the longest knock out tournament in the country played since 1971.

Moses Okurut, the officer in charge of probation and welfare at the center received the items collected from the football fans, administrators, media and the fans.

FUFA was ably represented by a strong delegation led by West Nile delegate Rasoul Aliga, also an executive committee member together with Ali Mwebe, the head of competitions at the Federation.

Other West Nile delegates in attendance included; Rev. Father Robert Ayiko, David Batali, Isaac Fredrick Ade, Andrew Onedagwa, John Rwothomio and Alfred Odaga.

They were escorted by Deo Mutabazi (Beach soccer delegate), Joseph Mwanje (Buganda region delegate), James Ssebaale (FUFA Support staff) and 102.1 FUFA f.m radio personnel.

The two clubs set to play in the finals of the 43rd Uganda Cup, KCCA and Paidha Black Angels have been also represented at the items hand over.

KCCA patron, the Lord Mayor of Kampala city Salongo Erias Lukwago led KCCA football club delegation.

Club chairman Julius Kabugo, Ali Nganda Mulyanyama (club director) and CEO David Tamale accompanied the Lord Mayor.

Aliga appreciated the initiative started by the federation towards the social corporate responsibility cause.

“As the FUFA Executive committee passed, we (West Nile) were tasked to come up with a community project that would benefit all. We came up with that of the Arua Regional Remand home. There is hope for the rehabilitated children at the home. I thank FUFA for starting up this initiative” Aliga said.

Arua Regional Remand home probation and welfare officer Okurut lauded FUFA, KCCA F.C, Paidha Black Angels and the general public for the donated items.

“We thank FUFA, the two clubs KCCA F.C and Paidha Black Angels as well as the fans who have donated generously. May God bless you all” Okurut said in a brief speech.

All the Paidha Black Angels players attended the handover event with two of the teenage KCCA players Allan Okello and Julius Poloto also part.

Last year, FUFA and the football donated  to the Missionaries of the poor charity group found in Mengo, Kisenyi – Kampala.

According to Ali Mwebe, the CSR activity shall be an annual event.
