Charity: FUFA hands over donated items from football fraternity to missionaries of the poor

Following a successful 42nd Uganda Cup final between Sports Club Vipers and Onduparaka played at Nakivubo stadium, Federation of the Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) attached a special Community Social Responsibility (CSR) cause to the tournament.

On Wednesday, a big FUFA delegation led by Executive Committee member, Dr Patrick Bernard Ogwel who was accompanied by Decolas Kiiza (Finance Director), Ahmed Hussein Marsha (Communications Manager), Esther Musoke (Marketing Director ), Ali Mwebe (Competitions Director) and other FUFA staff officially handed over an assortment of items to a charity group, Missionaries of the poor, Good Shepherd which is based in Mengo -Kisenyi.

They were flanked by the Vipers Chief Executive Officer Peter Lwanga, the club’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sandra Awori and some of the players.

The donated items included clothes, bags, shoes and food stuffs.

While handing over the items Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel noted that through football, development is promoted because it is non sectarian.

Dr. Ogwel remarked with concern;

Football is a unifying factor, it doesn’t discriminate basing on tribe or religion. Therefore lets use it to promote development.

We are privileged to hand over those items and we look forward towards a cordial relationship with the NGO

Brother Rushian Beck, the in charge at the center received the items on behalf of the Missionaries of the Poor.

He expressed gratitude towards FUFA, SC Vipers and Onduparaka, all the clubs that played in the tournament as well as all those who gave a hand for having such a kind heart.

We are so glad that you the Missionaries of the Poor. Your coming should not be the first and last time. We are grateful for this giving heart and may God bless you.

Missionaries of the poor takes care of over 400 unprivileged children with girls staying in Kisenyi and boys in Busega

Onduparaka club chairperson, Geoffrey Erema contributed U.shs 100,000 towards the cause.

Vipers overcame Onduparaka 3-1 in a thrilling final played at Nakivubo stadium of the well attended match.

For the feat, they earned a ticket to play at the CAF Confederation cup for the season 2016/17.

Several media plat forms were influential in mobilizing the football fans to donate items.

With special regards, FUFA acknowledges Baba F.M for the work well done in the Eastern part of the country and community radios all over.
