The FUFA Electoral Committee is gearing up for the 2025 FUFA elections and a crucial step in this process is conducting civic education for Electoral Officers. The officers will play a vital role in assisting the FUFA Electoral Committee during the elections right form the grassroots(districts), Regions to the National level.
The journey began on 28th February 2025 when the FUFA Electoral Committee held its first meeting, marking the commencement of the 2025 election process. One of the key resolutions from this meeting was the appointment of the Electoral Officers, who were selected after a rigorous application and vetting process.
To ensure these Electoral Officers are well equipped for their responsibilities, the FUFA Electoral Committee has organised training sessions on the electoral process. The sessions will take place across the different regional associations from 12th-14th March 2025.
The civic education and training programme is essential in ensuring the Electoral Officers are knowledgeable about the electoral process, including aspects like voter registration, nomination of candidates and the polling process.
The Chairman of the FUFA Electoral Committee Mathias Bwiire confirmed the communication and its importance.
‘By empowering the Electoral Officers, the FUFA Electoral Committee is taking significant steps towards conducting free and fair elections. The FUFA Electoral Committee put out an advertisement calling for applications from interested persons. Subsequently, the applications were vetted and the successful applicants selected to work as Electoral Officers.’
FUFA Elections will be held this year in July as per the FUFA Statutes.
