The FUFA Women Elite League has continued to grow both in stature and competition over the years. The start of the 2017/18 season has even provided more competition in the games played so far.
Action continues this week with interesting fixtures as Ajax Queens Football Club host defending champions Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club at Buddo SS in the top of the table clash in Victoria group.

The encounter has received great hype including the two teams holding a joint press conference on Friday at FUFA House, the first of its kind in women’s football in Uganda.
Kawempe Muslim currently lead Victoria group with maximum points in the three games played while Ajax Queens follow closely in second place on seven points but yet to concede a goal this season.
Ayub Khalifa the head coach at Kawempe Muslim believes the team is ready to pick maximum points come Sunday.
“We are prepared to face Ajax Queens and we are confident the team will get all three points” he said before adding, “ Ajax Queens are a good team but I believe we are better and have the capacity to edge past them.”

Similarly his counterpart Michael Natima, the head coach at Ajax Queens is confident his team has what it takes to defeat Kawempe Muslim.
“We are aware about the magnitude of the game and that is why we have been working hard in training, the team is in good shape and ready to overcome our opponents.” Natima asserted.

The joint press conference was also attended by players from both Kawempe Muslim and Ajax Queens. Juliet Nalukenge and captain Mariam Nakabugo represented Kawempe Muslim while defender Joan Nassali spoke on behalf of Ajax Queens.
Mariam Nakabugo vowed not to give chance to Ajax Queens and she is confident her side will walk away victors on Sunday.
“As players, we are prepared for the game, the results in the games we have played so far give us confidence heading into Sunday’s clash and I have the confidence we shall get all three points.”
Her teammate and the current top scorer with five goals Juliet Nalukenge has also vowed to extend her scoring form against a side that is yet to concede.
“I’m not fazed by the fact that Ajax Queens are yet to concede. I have scored in all the games we have played this season and I believe even on Sunday, I will for my team to win,” she said.

On the other hand, Joan Nassali the second vice captain Ajax Queens has indicated they are ready to face Kawempe Muslim.
“We are in good shape, the morale in the camp is high and everyone is ready for the game. Our target this season is to win the league title and we must show that by defeating defending champions Kawempe Muslim,” said Nassali.
On Saturday, Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady Cardinals hosts Olila Women in another highly anticipated clash. Besides being a top of the table clash in Elizabeth group, the game also provides a platform for all the contenders for this year’s nominees for the Airtel FUFA women player.
Hasifah Nassuna( UCU Lady Cardinals), Fazilah Ikwaput and Vanessa Karungi ( both for Olila Women) will feature in this encounter in this game.
Olila come into this game on the back of a comprehensive 6-0 victory against She MAK with Ikwaput scoring five the six goals. Olila will return to action on Sunday against Wakiso Hills.
The other games to be played include Muteesa I Royal University hosting Western United at Wankulukuku, She MAK who lost to Olila Women last week will try to make amends against Uganda Martyrs High School while Isra Academy will be at home to Kampala Queens.
The joint press conference was also attended by players from both Kawempe Muslim and Ajax Queens. Juliet Nalukenge and captain Mariam Nakabugo represented Kawempe Muslim while defender Joan Nassali spoke on behalf of Ajax Queens.
