Club football: CAF club licensing seminar kicks off in Kampala

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) club licensing seminar organized in collaboration with Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has successfully kicked off at May Apple Hall, Imperial Royal Hotel in Kampala.

FUFA Second Vice President, Darius Mugoye (representing the FUFA President, Eng. Moses Magogo) officially opened the seminar.

Participants at the two day seminar are Club Chief Executive Officers (CEO’s), FSL Board members, Ministry of Education and Sports officials (National Council of Sports), Security operatives, Sports, Science and Technology, State House, Uganda Olympic Committee, KCCA, Stadium owners/managers and FUFA Licensing Committee.

The seminar is being moderated by the FUFA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Edgar Watson under the three CAF Instructors Hack Raymond (South Africa), Sunday Kayuni (Tanzania) and Nicholas Musonye (Kenya) who arrived on Thursday.

“Club Licensing is a key pillar in the football development process. At first it received resistance when first implemented at the start of the 2015/16 season for the Azam Uganda Premier league. We are here to capacity build and build human resource. FUFA will fully embrace the exercise. We thank the leadership at FIFA and CAF for giving Uganda such a training opportunity”  Mugoye stated.

The seminar which has been sub divided into three sections as Infrastructure, Sporting Criteria and Administrative will climax on Friday evening.

Objectives of Club Licensing

* Safeguard the credibility and integrity of club competitions

* Improve the level of professionalism within the football family

* Promote sporting values in accordance with the principles of fair play, as well as safe and secure match environments

* Promote good governance in clubs

* Promote transparency in the control of clubs

* Prevent ownership or influence over of more than one club
