The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has approved key initiatives for the next four years under its Competitions Development Programme (FCDP) aimed at boosting football competitions to address the sporting and economic objectives of football in Uganda.
The FUFA Executive Committee has approved the following:
1) to create and implement the FUFA Competitions Development Programme (FCDP)
2) to create a fund called “FUFA Goal” that will provide resources to finance the FCDP
3) 2.5bn UGX shall be injected in the UPL per season to grow our flagship Competition to self-sustaining levels in at least 5 years
4) More resources be found for the FUFA GOAL to finance other FUFA Competitions and the reforms thereat
According to FUFA Communications Director Ahmed Hussein, ‘During the FUFA Elective Assembly in Hoima in July of this year, it was approved that FUFA looks at avenues of how to reinstall a format for club football competitions systems to address the sporting and economic objectives. All these would enhance the quality of the football leagues.’
FUFA will meet UPL Board and clubs on Tuesday, 26th August 2025, to discuss how the 2.5bn will be utilised.
