Uganda Cranes striker Yunus Seantamu Junior netted one of his team’s goals in a 2-1 win for AS Vita over Tunisian side CS Sfaxien to qualify for the Orange CAF Champions League final.
The DR Congo club advanced to the final 4-2 on aggregate but it was not an easy journey or them especially in the second leg. Vita conceded a goal in the 26th minute from a free kick by Zuied Derbali but the visitors searched for an equalizer and got it just before half time.
The biggest moment of the night was reserved for the Uganda cranes striker Sentamu who scored in the 55th minute for Vita to make life difficult for the Tunisian side.
Barring any injuries or natural disasters to deny him a place in the two legged final (25th October and 1 November, 2014), Sentamu will become the first Ugandan player to feature in the competition’s final since its change of format to the champions league in the late 90s.
Algerian side Entente Setif and TP Mazembe are playing in the other semifinal. Setif lead 2-1 from the first leg with the return leg set to be played in DRC today. The winner of the CAF Champions League takes $1.5M
