The Crested Cranes head coach Majidah Nantanda believes that her inexperienced side can still do better in the next Africa women qualifiers campaign after losing 4-0 to the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa on Saturday.
The two nations were playing their return leg after drawing 1-1 in Kampala on January 14. “The Congo team we played in Kinsasha was quite different from the side we had in Kampala. They added new faces of widely experienced players” said Nantanda shortly after the game.
The female tactician further revealed, “My players too, lacked concentration from the word go and they actually feared the match”. The former International player was however quick to add, “They are still young players and we shall continue working on them as we prepare for the next campaign”
Team coordinator, Marium Kaliga said the young girls give Uganda a bigger hope in the future and urged the local fans to keep supporting them. The Ugandan Ambassador to Congo, Rt. Major James Kinobe met the players after the match and encouraged them to remain focused. “You have played an experienced side but you too, can acquire that experience to trounce then next time” said the Ambassador who gave the team all the support while in Congo.
