Some of Uganda’s football coaches are undertaking Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) Member Association Fitness Coaching Course, which started today Monday 24th of October at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru near Jinja.
The course, which is scheduled to end on Friday 28th, will be under the guidance of FIFA instructor Garry Phillips of United kingdom.

“This is my first time to be here in Uganda and I am proud to have this beautiful class. I hope for the best throughout the week” said Garry in his opening remarks.
Asuman Lubowa, who is the head of technical matters at FUFA, said he is here to “enhance technical matters in Uganda”.
“I hope that this course can bring some further depth knowledge about the game for you participants. Thanks to FIFA, the FUFA for bringing us this course it will change your mind set on how to approach the game. So let’s give this course maximum attention,” Technical director Asuman Lubowa remarked.
“The course will focus on fitness. A good player should be able to run for 45 minutes in each half. Being fit is very important to play the sport,” He stressed.
“I want to acknowledge support of the FUFA and FIFA. It is not by chance that Uganda has improved in football. We have set a vision under Eng. Moses Magogo (FUFA president),” he added.
“We have been involved with the coaching programme for the last three years now. However, it is important to develop players, so the coaches have to be equipped.
“We all want academic excellence, but sporting talent is important, so I challenge and encourage the coaches to continue the good work,” Lubowa outlined.

The five-day course has 25 spaces for coaches and was open to Premier League clubs, U17 Juniors league trainer and tertiary institutions.
The course started on Monday morning but will be officially opened by FUFA Executive Member Sam Lwere later in the afternoon.
