FIFA M.A Referees’ & Assessors’ Course at Njeru Climaxes

At least 30 referees and Assessors have on Friday completed the six day long Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Member Association Elite Refereeing course at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru-Jinja.

The course started on Sunday 13th and has climaxed on Friday, 18th March at FUFA Technical Centre Njeru with FUFA Executive committee member, Sam Lwere, the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony.

The residential course started on Sunday with medical assessment before embarking on Physical fitness test one day later at Jinja Senior Secondary School and thereafter, the referees resumed their class schedules for theory.

According to Chairman FUFA Referees Standing Committee, Chris Kalibala said as FUFA refereeing department, we’re thrilled with the effort FUFA and FIFA are putting in to maintain high standards of refereeing in Uganda.

“We thank FUFA and FIFA for having organized this course for us because it helps us to refresh on the upgraded Laws of the game.From here we want us to go and put this acquired knowledge in to use” He as well cautioned participants.

The chief Guest Sam Lwere was happy with the route FUFA and FIFA are taking.

“On behalf of the FUFA president, I thank FIFA for giving us multiple courses wherever approached mostly in refereeing.We want to see the number of FIFA referee’s increasing year after year. And the only logic is to see you performing well wherever given an assignment.” He also cautioned referees.

The course has been conducted by FIFA instructors namely; Carlos Henriques (Regional Development Officer from Gaborone Mozambique), Felix Tangawarina (Technical Instructor from Harare, Zimbabwe) and Mark Mzengo (Fitness instructor from Malawi) and a number of different course units like physical fitness, Interpretation of Laws of the game were handled.

Local instructors Ali Tomusange, Yusuf Awuye, Ali Waiswa, Catherine Adipo, Margret Kubingi, Egesa Samuel Wesonga (Referees Maanager and Course Cordinator), Ronnie Kalema (Referees Committee/ Head Assessors), Mawanda Junju (Referes Committee / Monitoring), Chris Kalibala (Chairman Referees’ Committee) also lectured during the course
