Friends of Soccer defeat Mbarara Sports Academy to register first win

Friends of Soccer FC from Fort Portal City earned their first win at the ongoing FUFA Juniors League National finals after defeating Mbarara Sports Academy on Wednesday at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

In a game that witnessed a heavy downpour especially in the second half, Friends of Soccer stood out to claim maximum points.

The opening half ended goalless before the floodgates opened just as it started raining.

Abdu Musinguzi fired Friends of Soccer into the lead, just three minutes after recess converting from spot.

The lead was however short lived with Mbarara Sports Academy levelling matters through Ronnie Asiimwe who also converted from the penalty mark.

It was Nelson Thomas Ngambeki who eventually decided the game, bagging a brace on the day, his first goal coming in the 59th minute before putting the icing on the cake with a well taken free kick in the 82nd minute.

Victory means Friends of Soccer FC move to four points from three games and will play their final game against BUL FC Junior Team on Friday.

Mbarara Sports Academy who are yet to get a point will end their campaign with a fixture against Prosper Soccer Academy on Thursday.
