FSL: KCC FC games postponed, Soana and Bright stars renew rivalry

Tuesday fixtures:

Masaka vs Police

Entebbe vs sc Villa

Bright Stars vs Soana

Vipers vs Simba

URA vs SCVU

The reigning league champions KCCA FC will have to contend with a congested domestic fixture due to their participation in the CAF Champions league. The FUFA super League board has released communication indicating that KCCA’s two league games this week-against Express FC (Tuesday 25th Feb, 2014) and Simba (Friday 28th Feb, 2014). However the rest of the league progamme will remains unchanged.  KCCA FC are playing Nkana Red Devils of Zambia this weekend in the first leg of the first round CAF Champions League.

‘KCCA FC are involved in the CAF champions League and we felt it necessary to postpone their games to give them ample time to travel to Zambia’ said FSL Vice President Mujib Kasule.

The new dates for the postponed games will be communicated in future by the FSL board.

URA, Vipers eye top position

In the last round of the FSL games on Friday, both Vipers and URA picked up contrasting results. URA defeated Entebbe 2-1 while Vipers lost by the same score line against BUL in JInja. However of both teams win today, they could find themselves joint top of the table dislodging Kiira Young who are not in action this afternoon.  URA play host to Sports Club Victoria University (SCVU) in Lugazi  while Vipers have a home fixture against Simba who have drawn their opening two games of the second round.

Bright Stars-Soana to clash

There is no love lost between the two teams. Their fierce rivalry stems from the 2012/2013 FUFA Big. It is one of the biggest games in Ugandan football right from lower division football. Incidentally the two games have played three games between them-one won by Soana (in the Big League) while the rest of the games have failed to produce goals.

Soana made history as they became the first team to beat Bright Stars FC at home in four and half years in a FUFA recognized football match.

The rankings on the table tell a different story as Bright stars who qualified to the FUFA super league and BIG league champions are languishing in 11th position while Soana are 5th on the table (30points) and could find themselves second at the end of the day if the teams above them fail to win.
