FUFA Super League fixture
Tuesday 18th March, 2014
KO: 4:30pm
Entebbe v CRO -Wankulukuku
SCVU v KCCA -Namboole
Habib Kavuma and Steven Bengo are still ruled out of today’s match but KCCA FC coach George Nsimbe says he still has an upper hand against his former assistant Morley Byekwaso’s SCVU in the FUFA Super League at Namboole.
Nsimbe hopes to maintain the KCCA squad that beat Soana FC 2-1 last Friday with joint top scorer Tony Odur (9goals with Bul FC’s Crespo Asiku) spearheading the striking line.
“We have won our recent matches and we did it convincingly. So we clearly have an upper hand tomorrow (Tuesday). But remember they (SCVU) will be at home so we need to respect them for that to pick the result,” Nsimbe said.
SCVU and KCCA have met four times since September last year and they drew goalless twice and then 1-1 in the first round of the current league season.
Their fourth encounter was at the season opener -the FUFA Super Cup that pits league champions and the Uganda Cup holders.
KCCA FC took the day 5-3 in spot kicks after regulation time ended 1-1.
Byekwaso will front Noah Semakula who scored a brace and Dan Nsubuga who picked the other goal in SCVU’s 3-1 win over Entebbe FC in their previous match exactly a week ago in search of victory today. Brain Torach (knee) and David Ndahabwe (ankle) are yet to recover.
A win for KCCA FC (33points), who are eighth placed on the table will take them above SCVU (35points) currently in the fifth place with a point while a loss will propel their opponents to two points behind table leaders Vipers SC (40points).
In a relegation battle second last on the table CRO FC face Entebbe, who are last on the standing and yet to pick a win in 21 matches played.
The other fixture is between Entebbe FC and CRO. Entebbe FC is the only team in the top flight yet to win a league game this season.
