FUFA-Airtel Rising Stars U-17 regional qualifiers conclude in the North

5th FUFA – Airtel Rising Stars: North & West Nile Qualifiers

Saturday & Sunday, 12th & 13th September 2015

At Pece Stadium, Gulu

The 5th edition of the FUFA – Airtel Rising Stars boys and girls U-17 championship will have the regional qualifiers come to an end this weekend with the combined Northern and West Nile regions’ qualifiers in Gulu.

According to the national coordinator of the programme, Dr. Benard Patrick Ogwel, all the preparations to hold a successful championship in Gulu have been organized;

We have already confirmed teams from all the West Nile and Northern FUFA regions. We expect a competitive championship where more talents will continue to be spotted and nurtured to become future stars

Teams as Onduparaka Young, Arua Young, Arua Central are favorites from the West Nile region whilst Kitgum Young and hosts Gulu remain the highly tipped teams from the Northern region.

The successful two teams per region will play the final.

Successful teams are rewarded with Airtel branded jerseys. The best players are given plaques and special medals. The winners and runners up each get medals with varying cash prizes.

Prizes:

The top 2 teams per gender are each given a brand new set of airtel branded jersey, with the winners taking gold medals and the runners taking silver.

The winners pocket U.shs 1M as the runners up take U.shs 500,000.

There are certificates of participation accorded to each of the participating teams.

Individual excelling personalities (Top Scorer and Most Valuable players) are rewarded with plaques and medals.

The national finals shall be played in the week leading to 31st October 2015 at Mbarara.

It is now 5 years since Airtel Uganda has been funding the project meant to be played by Under 17 players.

The programme has witnessed the nurturing of successful players in the shape of Farouk Miya (now a regular with the Uganda Cranes) and U-23 players – Kezironi Kizito and Martin Kizza.

Airtel Uganda, also the Uganda Cranes official sponsors and close partners with FUFA to run the FUFA Big league have worked with the federation through leaps and bounds to promote football at all levels in the country.

The ARS football programme is run under the campaign dubbed ‘Its Now’.
