The President of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA), Mr. Joseph Sepp Blatter, invited the FUFA President, Engineer Moses Magogo on an official visit to Zurich, the Head Quarters of the world’s soccer governing body for the period that lasted four days from 22nd to 25th May 2014.
Magogo who was elected FUFA President close to eight months ago briefed Mr. Blatter on the progress of the FIFA development programmes in Uganda.
He also presented to the world football leader the programmes financed by FIFA and notified him the challenges in the areas of Governance, League and Club Football, Technical, management & Secretariat, and marketing.
Mr. Blatter on his part called upon the FUFA President to be firm and to withstand all the challenges of the game for further development.
Blatter was also impressed by the decision of the Members to vote a FIFA Administration Instructor as the FUFA President.
‘Despite being the second youngest FA President in the world, behind Romania’s Razvan Burleanu, you have been trained by FIFA on how football should be administered and we shall offer you the necessary support’ said Blatter
The FIFA President took Eng. Magogo through the expectations of world football and advised him to take advantage of the rights and privileges of FIFA Members to develop the sport in Uganda.
On meeting the experts at FIFA, Eng. Magogo ensured Uganda will benefit from the 5th goal project, artificial turf field, Performance Programme worth 125,000 USD, FIFA Grassroots Project and various education courses will be coming to Uganda in the next one year.
‘The invitation was a beneficial meeting for the game of football in Uganda. It is not an everyday occasion to have a bi-literal discussion with the FIFA President. He is a man for development and throughout the time we met, we discussed only football development. As Africa we owe him a lot” said Magogo
The FUFA President will represent Uganda at the 64th FIFA Congress in Sao Paulo on the 9th and 10th of June 2014
